Think With AI — Why Better Thinking Will Matter More Than Ever, by Mike Rockwood
Welcome to Think With AI

AI can dramatically increase what you can do.
The bigger question is what it will do to you.

I’m Mike Rockwood, and I wrote Think With AI around a question that became increasingly difficult for me to ignore: will AI make us more capable — or simply more dependent?

Think With AI introduces a practical approach to working with AI that strengthens your ability to question assumptions, examine alternatives, challenge reasoning, and make sound judgments, rather than simply accepting the answers AI provides.

Use AI to improve your thinking. Not replace it.

The central idea

More capable —
or more dependent?

AI can make our work dramatically better while quietly assuming more of the thinking that once helped us become better at the work. Both things happen at once, and only one of them is obvious.

That's the tension at the heart of this book. The question isn't whether to use AI. It's how to take full advantage of its extraordinary capabilities while continuing to develop the thinking, reasoning, and judgment that make us more capable.

The real product isn’t the work you produce. It’s the thinker you become while producing it.
Think With AI, Chapter 1
The Thinking Loop

Some answers are found. The most valuable ones are built.

AI makes it easy to ask a question, accept an answer, and move on. That's the Answer Loop. The Thinking Loop offers a more deliberate approach: frame the problem, ground your thinking, test ideas, and refine your judgment. AI becomes a partner that challenges and strengthens your reasoning—not a substitute for it.

7 chapters, 5 stories, and a simple but powerful way to engage with AI.

Say the quiet part to the model

A short companion to the longer piece on thinking out loud: the four things people leave out, every time.

About Mike

I have spent much of my career asking questions with no obvious answer.

Across decades of leadership, entrepreneurship, consulting, and teaching, I have worked with executives making consequential decisions, professionals confronting unfamiliar problems, and students learning how to make those judgments for the first time. Through it all, one question has remained remarkably persistent: why do some people consistently see more, question more, and make better decisions than others?

Then generative AI arrived — and that question became considerably more urgent. What began as professional curiosity quickly became something closer to an obsession. I began experimenting with AI daily: testing its limits, teaching with it, building AI-powered learning tools, and exploring how this technology changes not only what we can produce, but what happens to us in the process.

I approach that question not as a technologist trying to predict the future, but as someone who has spent a lifetime making decisions, leading organizations, teaching students, and remaining relentlessly curious about how people think and grow. I am fascinated by what AI can do. But I am even more interested in what we can become by learning to use it well.

That pursuit also led me to create Quantum Classroom, an EdTech innovation incubator where we collaborate with educators and institutions to develop and test practical AI-powered learning tools. Think With AI provides much of the thinking behind that work, while projects such as MentorAI and AscendPrep explore how those ideas can become real learning experiences.
